A micro-peeling effect, both on the surface and deep into the pores
Acne-prone skin has a tendency to thicken as a defence mechanism, building up dead cells, sebum and other elements that collect on the skin’s surface and block pores. As a purifying cleanser, Sébium Gel Moussant Actif contains a combination of AHA (alphahydroxy acid) and BHA (betahydroxy acid), known for their complementary keratylotic action, one on the surface, the other deep down. Keratolytic action refers to the ability to smooth skin texture by removing dead skin and stimulating cell renewal.
- Salicylic acid (BHA) is an ideal active ingredient for oily and acne-prone skin as it is lipophilic, giving it the ability to dissolve oil. Able to break the ties between dead cells, it eliminates them from the skin’s surface. This exfoliating action helps in unclogging the pores, helping to make them look smaller. It also prevents comedones from forming and spots from becoming inflamed and red1 thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits.
- Glycolic acid (AHA) penetrates deeply thanks to its small molecular size. Glycolic acid is hydrophilic, meaning it has a strong affinity to water and is able to reach where salicylic acid cannot. A powerful active ingredient, it eliminates dead and dehydrated skin cells and accelerates the desquamation process, creating a ‘renewed skin’ effect. Thanks to this exfoliating action, skin becomes bright and smooth. For it to realise all of its potential as an active ingredient, there needs to be kept in an environment whose pH is sufficiently acidic.
Thanks to the AHA-BHA pair, traditionally used by doctors for peelings, Sébium Gel Moussant Actif produces great results on acne-prone skin.
